Before we discuss circuit training, we'll delve into why someone would choose a workout method like circuit training. To optimize your workout at the health club you should evaluate what type of workout program that would accommodate your fitness goals and needs the best. A person who is trying to put on muscles and somebody who is trying to shed a few pounds need two completely differently designed fitness programs.
The circuit training program is best suited for people, and especially women, that want to lose weight. The goal of the circuit program is to keep you moving from one machine and exercise to another without any break or resting period in between. By doing so, your heart rate will stay within the fat burning zone throughout your workout.
The exercise equipment used in a circuit training program are usually set up in a circle-like formation with one machine for each muscle group giving you a full body workout as you work you way through the set up circuit.
A correctly set up circuit training should be designed to work your body from bottom to top and finish with abs and a stretch. Ordinarily you would begin with leg extensions, leg curls, abductors, adductors, calves, back, chest, shoulders, biceps, triceps, lower back and finally abs.
There are a few different ways of training within the concept of circuit training all using the same principle of keeping your heart rate within the calculated zone for fat burning. You can do one set on the first exercise machine, then directly move one to the next exercise, do one set, move to the next exercise and so forth and do this whole circle three times. Another way would be to pick two machines next to one another, like leg extensions and leg curls and jump back and forth between the two doing one set at the time until you completed three sets on each. Either way you choose to do it, it's bound to give you a good workout and to make you sweat.
