Ready made protein drinks are high in demand at any sports club as a post workout drink. While the sport nutrition companies provide quiet a variety of ready made protein drinks one is no different then the other. The majority of ready made protein drinks have between 35-45 grams of protein per serving and around 180-200 calories. Look for a brand that is low in sugar, contains no aspartame but still tastes good. The protein in ready made protein drinks normally comes from whey protein and provides you with a good quality protein replacement after your workout.
The convenience of being able to pick up a ready made protein drink at the gym has made these drinks extremely popular. Anybody who has messed around with protein powder in a Tupperware container in your gym bag appreciates these drinks even more. The price of a ready made protein drink is needless to say, slightly higher per serving then mixing a serving of your own powder in water. However people don't mind paying a few dollars extra to save themselves the trouble of mixing it themselves. A ready made protein drink is also excellent as a in between two solid food meals. If you have a busy schedule or are on the road a lot, these drinks can make a big difference in your energy level if you don't have time to eat but need something to tie you over 'till the next meal.
For women, the ready made protein drinks are much more beneficial then the falsely advertised diet drinks like the Slim Fast drinks that are nothing but a serving of sugar promising to give you energy and make you lose weight. The ready made protein drink will give you a sense of fullness and enough calories from a good, low calorie source to keep you going.
The ready made protein drink is pretty much the same thing as if you were mixing your own protein shake at home. The protein powders however, provides you with a better quality protein then the ready made drinks. To be able to keep the protein alive in the ready made protein drinks, preservatives are added meaning chemicals to conserve the protein in the drink.
The ready made protein drinks are great alternatives if nothing else is available however the best protein is still obtained from a solid food protein source such as chicken, fish or egg whites and the second best source is a whey protein powder.
The amount of protein in a ready made protein drink is also on the border line of being too high for women. The results of taken in too much protein in one serving will be an upset and bloated stomach. Our digestive system can only handle a certain amount in one sitting. For women this amount is a little less then for men and our tolerance level for how much we can digest at one time also vary from one person to another. Too much protein in a serving also makes your kidneys work a lot harder since protein is being broken down by the kidneys. Having said that, we can sum up that the ready made protein is good for emergencies but really try to get the daily intake of protein from solid food and a good whey protein powder instead.
