The use of energy pills is not for everybody. When it comes to supplements containing one or more stimulant classified herbs or energy enhancing ingredients you should check with your physician before you start using them. Because of the effect energy pills has on your metabolic rate and your adrenalin production, having high blood pressure already could be dangerous if taking anything that would increase your heart rate.
If you have a family history of heart disease or heart conditions you should not take energy supplements or fat burning products at all since it could give you heart palpitations and an irregular heart beat, if only temporary.
The safest approach if you want to start using a supplement containing stimulant herbs is to ask you physician or even better bring the product to your physician and let him or her take a look at the ingredients to determine whether it is a suitable supplement for you. Energy pills do not interfere with any medications or any other prescription drugs but if you take any heart or high blood pressure you need to reconsider using stimulant enhanced products because of their effect on your heart rate.
Needless to say, you should not take an energizing supplement too close to bedtime unless staying up all night is your goal. The first time you try any energy supplements, take it early in the day to determine how long they will stay active in your system and keep you energy level elevated. Everybody reacts differently to energy enhancing supplements depending on your metabolism, your weight, sex and your body frame.
Women usually do not need the same amount as men to feel the effect. If the bottle says to take four pills start with half the dose just to be on the safe side and monitor how you react to it and how long you feel energized for. If the effect is not to your satisfaction, increase the amount of pills but be very careful not to exceed the recommended dose no matter what.
People that drink coffee don't usually get the same effect as non coffee drinkers due to their bodies being exposed to caffeine every day and they have therefore a less sensitive system to stimulants then a non caffeine user.
Whether you use energy pills for the first time or if you are a long time consumer, do not take them for more then three months at the time and preferably not every day. If you choose to use a supplement containing stimulants also take an essential fatty acid supplement in addition, to support your adrenal glands. Cycle the energy supplements with three months on and a couple of weeks off before you start a new three months cycle to keep your adrenal glands healthy and working properly.
Never take more then one type of energy pill at the same time. Even though them might have different ingredients they still have the same ultimate effect on your metabolism, heart rate, blood pressure etc and understandably taking double dose would put your well being at risk. Signs and symptoms to look out for that you have taken too much is, nausea, sweats, heart palpitations, headaches and your heart beating too fast. If you would ever experience any of these signs drink half a cup of black coffee. As contradicting as it sounds, it seems to bring your heart rate down to normal. However the key to taking energy pills the correct and safe way is always follow the recommended amount and the suggested time frame to take them at before your workout.
It is not very wise to take any energy supplements on an empty stomach since all vitamins and supplements should be taking with food. Taken on an empty stomach could result in a stomachache or indigestion. Always consult a physician if you feel unsure or have questions regarding whether you should take an energy supplement or not.
