Weight Loss Lifestyle — The Pitfalls of Weight Loss

Weight Loss Pitfalls

Looking at what most people do wrong when changing their weight loss lifestyle the most common mistake people do is trying to quit all the old habits cold turkey and scheduling too much exercise thinking more is better to lose weight. More is not always better and especially not when it comes to exercise. Moderate level of exercise is what you want to achieve to start with. Nobody can go from ground zero to top shape and condition in a blink of an eye. It just can't be done like that.

Patience and consistency are two key factors for anybody trying to get in shape or to lose weight. When you see people who are in good shape and whom go to the gym three to four times a week, remember that they were beginners too, at some point in their lives. They most likely didn't start out knowing everything they know now. We always want to be experts without ever being beginners. That is not a realistic approach nor is it possible in real life. Talk to the people you see around you that you pick as role models. Learn from their mistakes and their experiences.

Don't try to do it all right away because most likely what is end up happening is that you burn yourself out if not physically at least mentally, you over train your body and end up injure a muscle in the process. Then you can start to really feel frustrated not being able to stick to your new weight loss lifestyle and you might even fall back into your old routines and habits whatever they were. This is not a good approach to a new weight loss lifestyle.

To be able to stick with a new way of living, you have to unlearn and relearn how to do things, which can be very hard as an adult, especially if you have been doing things a certain way for a very long time. The difficulty of breaking old habits is one of the things that probably made you gain weight in the first place, don't let it be the reason you won't be able to stick to a weight loss program.

Anther very common mistake people make that try to incorporate new eating habits into their lives, is to let the whole day turn into a mishap if they mess up on one meal, as far as the eating is concerned.

There is no reason for you to eat bad food for the rest of the day if you happen to get off track with your diet at some point. Just get back on track at the next meal and there is no harm done. This is where the discipline and focus comes becomes very important. If you lose sight of your long term goal every time as your short term plan failed, you need to unlearn how to think and look a little further ahead then just right in front of you. So what? You lost sight of the dream for one second and that is going to be the end of it for you? The determination you learn by getting off track but getting back on it again is an experience that you will be able to use in all walks of life once adjusted to it.

Another common pitfall to avoid is the home based workout equipment that so many people invest in thinking that they will actually have the discipline and willpower to use this so called easy to use exercise equipment. The piece of equipment will most likely end up collecting dust under your bed or taking up space in your closet after you used it once or twice. Very few people have the self discipline working out from you own home will demand of you not to mention if you are a beginner. Go down to the nearest health club, spend the money on a gym membership and start working out with a personal trainer at least to get you going. It's worth it and will save you the time you spent on failing first anyway.
